Rainy Halloween

The sidewalks were slick with wet leaves, but the children were loving their Trick-or-Treat evening. The littlest ones were just excited to wear costumes, and some of the older kids had made their own super-creative efforts. Lots of kids of all ages come through our townhouse development. It's easy to go from one door to another, but most years only about a third of the houses participate. Sometimes we'll have the same kids come around more than once. I don't mind. Many of the children live in the nearby apartments and have nowhere else to go. This year, more of my neighbors were handing out candy than usual. That meant the kids got to show their costumes at fifty or so doors with ease. All the dragons, pirates, princesses, cats, and Hogwarts professors have enough chocolate to keep them content until the next sweet holiday.
